Mayan School Of Fine Art

The school is tucked away in Agilandeswari Nagar, right in the K.K Nagar area of Trichy. We’ve been here for a while now, just teaching art to whoever wants to learn. It isn’t a very big place, just a few rooms filled with easels and old wooden stools that have seen better days. You’ll see splashes of paint on the floor and the smell of turpentine is pretty much always in the air. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that. People just walk in, find a spot, and start drawing. Most of the kids come by in the evenings after their regular school is over. It gets quite loud then with all the chatter, but during the day it’s mostly quiet. We have some overhead fans that help with the Trichy heat, though they click a bit when they’re on high. The walls are covered in sketches and paintings done by the students, and we never really get around to taking the old ones down. It’s a bit messy, to be honest. Brushes are soaking in jars and there are stacks of paper in the corner. We keep a teapot in the back for the staff. It’s just a simple spot for people in the neighborhood to come and be creative without any pressure. We don’t do big exhibitions or anything, we just focus on what’s happening at the desks right now.
