Gm Engineering Industries

We are over at No-1, Vathalapetti, which is right near the Kottarapeti Railway Gate in Tiruverambur. You can hear the trains passing by all day long, and the gate alarm goes off every few hours. It’s a bit noisy, but we are used to it by now. The shop is usually full of dust and the smell of cut iron. We started Gm Engineering Industries because we knew how to handle the machines and there was work to be had. The space isn’t very big, so we have to be organized about where we put things. We keep the raw materials in one corner and the finished bits in another. There’s a small desk where we keep the ledger and some pens that barely work. Sometimes customers come in and just sit on a stool to talk while we finish up their order. It feels like a small community here near the tracks. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy signs. Most people just find us because they live nearby or someone told them where we were. The floor gets swept at the end of every day, but by the next morning, it’s covered in metal bits again. That is just how it goes in this line of work. We stay until the sun goes down most days. It’s hard work but it’s what we know how to do.
