Ar Rahman Rice Merchant

Ar Rahman Rice Merchant is located at 46 Allithurai Road in the Puthur area. It’s a busy road and the traffic can get pretty loud during the morning rush. We have a modest shop where we keep various grades of rice for whoever needs them. Most of our day is spent handling the heavy jute bags and making sure they are stored away from the damp. The walls are a bit scuffed from moving the sacks around, and the scale we use has seen a lot of use over the years. We aren't a big corporation, just a local merchant trying to make a living in the city. People come in asking for specific types of grain for their meals, and we do our best to show them what we have in stock. The floor is usually covered in a few stray grains that fell out during weighing. We don't have air conditioning or anything like that, just an old ceiling fan that clicks while it turns. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so we usually sit near the front to catch whatever breeze comes off the street. We keep a simple ledger to track our sales and talk to the other shopkeepers nearby when things are slow. It’s just honest work, day in and day out, dealing with the staple food that everyone around here needs for their families.
