Edathadan Granites

We are located in Village Kodassery, which is part of the Chalakkudy Taluka. Our mail comes through P/O Mattathur, specifically in the Ombathungal area near Kodakara. Edathadan Granites is a local business through and through. Granite is heavy work and we’ve been doing it for years in this part of Kerala. The yard is usually full of slabs and the sound of cutting machines. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s where we work. We don't have a big corporate office; we just have a small room where we keep the records and talk to customers. People come from all over the local area to see the different types of granite we have. Sometimes we’re out at a site measuring things up, and other times we’re here moving blocks around with the crane. It’s a lot of sweat and manual labor. We don't really do the whole professional marketing thing. Word of mouth is how most people find us in Kodakara. We know the land here and we know the stone. If someone asks for a specific cut, we do our best to get it right. It’s just how we were taught to work. It’s a family-run kind of vibe, even if we aren't all related. We just get on with the job and hope the machines don't break down too often. That’s about all there is to say about us really. It’s a decent life.
