Department Of Physics University College

The Department Of Physics University College is right in the middle of Palayam. Being in Thiruvananthapuram, we are used to the heat and the sudden rains. This department has been part of the university for a very long time. The buildings are old and have that specific smell of dust and old lab equipment. We have a lot of students coming in every year to study how things work. There are blackboards covered in long equations that stay there for days. Our labs have glass jars, wires, and machines that look like they belong in a museum but they still work fine for our needs. The professors here don't care much for fancy suits; they usually just wear simple shirts and carry a lot of papers. We have a small library where it is actually quiet, which is rare. Outside, the Palayam area is always buzzing with people and buses. You can hear the city noise even when you are trying to focus on a physics problem. It is a place for people who like to think and figure things out. We don't have a lot of money for new decorations, so the walls are a bit plain. But the students don't seem to mind much. They are busy with their experiments and their notes. It is a very traditional way of learning. We just keep the doors open for anyone who wants to learn physics in this part of Kerala.
