Cheriston Coir Product

Cheriston Coir Product is based at number 64 in Mutalcheri, which is part of the Tanjore district. If you know this area, you know it’s mostly green fields and a lot of palm trees. Our workspace is right in the middle of all that. We deal with coir all day, so there is always a bit of brown dust in the air. It’s just part of the job. We have a small group of people from the village who come in every morning. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a receptionist. Usually, if you walk in, you’ll just see someone working near the piles of fiber. The work is physical and it keeps us moving. Tanjore gets quite warm, so we have a high roof to keep the heat away. We don’t spend time on computers much, mostly just checking the raw materials and making sure the bundles are tied tight. Sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck on the narrow roads near Mutalcheri, especially when it rains. We have to go out and help them sometimes. It’s a slow pace of life here compared to the big cities, but we like it that way. We’ve been doing this for years and we know the material well. We just make the products and send them out. It’s honest work and it keeps the families here going. We don’t have big speeches about what we do. We just do it and hope for the best.
