We are over at Flat No 604 in Building No 17 of the Bakul Co Operative Housing Society. This is on Pokhran Road No 2 in Thane West. We are quite close to Vasant Vihar School, so a lot of our students come from there after their classes. Since we are in a flat, it is a very informal setting. It doesn't look like a school. It looks like a place where people live, which I think makes the students feel a bit more relaxed. We have turned a couple of the rooms into study areas. There are books piled up on the shelves and the kitchen is usually where we make tea during the breaks. We have been in Thane for years now. Pokhran Road has changed a lot, with new buildings and shops coming up everywhere. But our little corner in Bakul CHS stays pretty much the same. We don't have a big staff. It is just a few of us who handle everything from the teaching to the phone calls. We help the students with whatever they are finding difficult in class. Sometimes we stay late if there is a big exam coming up. It is just part of the job. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just want the kids to do okay in their tests. It is a simple, honest way to earn a living in Thane.
