Working out here at the M. L. K. -3 Industrial Estate at Sativali Phata is quite an experience. Being located right off the Mumbai Ahmedabad Highway in Vasai East means there is a lot of movement. At Mevish Pharmaceutical Machineries (India) Pvt. Ltd., the sound of machines is pretty much our background music. We spend our hours putting together parts and checking measurements for the machines we build. It is honest work and can get quite greasy sometimes. The workshop is big and stays hot during the summer, but we are used to it by now. We aren't interested in making things look polished for a brochure. Our floors have scuff marks and there is always some metal scrap in the corner. We focus on the assembly line and making sure the bolts are tight. The highway noise is constant, but it reminds us that we are in a hub of activity. Most of us have been working with these machines for years. We don’t use a lot of big words to describe what we do. We just build pharmaceutical machinery because that is what we know. It takes patience and a lot of manual labor. Our lunch breaks are usually spent sitting around the workspace talking about everyday stuff. We just do our shift, finish the orders, and head home. It is a practical life in a busy industrial zone, and we are fine with that.
