M&Y Limestone Quarry

Our place is out in Ogipur Village, near Tandur. Being at number 51, we are right in the heart of where the limestone comes from. It is a very different environment than the city. Everything around here is about the earth and what we can pull out of it. The ground is often covered in that white and grey limestone dust. We spend our days at the quarry site or back at the yard making sure the stones are sized correctly. Tandur stone is known for being sturdy, and we see a lot of it passing through our hands. It’s a rough job, and the weather really dictates how much we can get done in a week. When it's dry, we work long hours to get the stone loaded onto the lorries. The village is quiet, but our yard is usually humming with the sound of tools. We don't have a polished showroom with lights; we just have the raw material out in the open. People who need limestone for flooring or rough paving come out here to see us. It is honest work that leaves you tired at the end of the day. We’ve been part of this village's industry for a long time and just keep at it. It is just the way life goes when you work with the land.
