S R K Enterprises is tucked away at 49, Palayakaran Street in Porur. Porur is a busy place these days, but our little corner on Palayakaran Street stays relatively the same. The building at number 49 has been our base for a while now. It’s a bit of an old structure and we have to fix things here and there quite often. The street can get pretty crowded with scooters and people walking by, so getting things in and out takes a bit of patience. We usually have the radio playing in the background while we sort through the orders and manage the day-to-day business. It’s a small operation, really just a couple of us handle everything from the inventory to the deliveries. We don't have a polished showroom or anything, just a workspace that is mostly functional. Sometimes the Chennai heat gets to be a bit much, so we take breaks when we can. We know most of the people on the street and they know us. It’s a local business in every sense of the word. We don't have any big goals of changing the world, we just want to get the work done and provide for our families. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy enough that the days go by pretty fast. We’re just regular people trying to run a shop in a busy city. That is really all there is to it.
