Karthik Keyan

I've been at 42/51 Meenambal Salai for a while now. Most people know this part of Vivekanandha Nagar as being pretty busy, especially in the mornings when everyone's heading out to work or school. Kodungaiur has its own rhythm, you know? It's not the most modern or fanciest part of Chennai, but it’s where we are and it works for us. Karthik Keyan is the name on the door, though most folks just drop by because they’re already in the area for something else. It gets incredibly hot here in the summer, obviously, so the ceiling fan is always running at full speed. Sometimes the street noise from the bikes and buses gets a bit much, but you get used to it after a few months of sitting here. We just handle whatever work comes our way. The building itself is older, nothing special to look at, but it’s sturdy enough. I usually spend most of the day just sorting things out and making sure the paperwork doesn't pile up too high on the corner of the desk. It's a small space, really. Just a couple of plastic chairs for whoever stops in and a wooden table that's seen better days. If you're walking down Meenambal Salai, you'll see us near the corner. There’s a tea stall not too far off that has decent snacks, so I'm often over there. We aren't trying to do anything huge or flashy, just keeping the lights on. It’s quiet in the afternoons when the sun is at its worst and nobody wants to be outside. That’s just how it goes in Chennai 118.
