You can find Aapt Company Ltd. over at the Gem & Jewellery Complex in the MEPZ-SEZ area of Tambaram. Our specific spot is Fdf3. Since we are in the special economic zone, there’s a bit of security to get through, but once you’re in, it’s just a regular workplace like any other. We work with jewelry and gems, which means things are often very small and need a lot of attention. It’s a lot of sitting at benches under bright lights. The office isn’t huge, but it's packed with the tools we need. We don’t really do retail sales here; it’s more of the production and handling side of things. Tambaram is a good spot for us because of the transport links, though the commute can be long for some of the staff during rush hour. We usually have the radio on in the background while we work. It’s a focused environment because you can’t really mess up when you’re dealing with precious materials and stones. We aren't a big flashy company with a huge marketing budget. We just do our specific part in the jewelry industry and try to keep our orders on schedule for our clients. The complex has a lot of other businesses too, so there is always people moving around the hallways. It’s a decent place to work, even if the days feel a bit long when we have a big project to finish up before the deadline.
