Vogue Sarees

Our shop is up in the Kakadiya Complex on Ghod Dod Road. We are in unit A 703, which is quite a way up, but the view of the street isn’t bad when we have a second to look. Ghod Dod Road is one of those places that never seems to sleep. There are always cars and people going back and forth. Inside Vogue Sarees, it’s a bit more controlled, though things get messy when we are unfolding sarees for people to see. We have stacks of different colors and patterns piled high on the shelves. It takes a lot of time to keep everything folded neatly, but that’s the main part of the job. We aren't a big fancy boutique; it’s more of a workspace where we manage our inventory. The elevators in the complex can be slow during the lunch hour, so we usually just stay put and eat our tiffins together. We’ve been in this building for some time now and know most of the other shop owners on our floor. It’s a good community. Dealing with sarees is delicate work because you have to be careful with the fabrics and the embroidery. We spend hours checking for loose threads or marks. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we are used to it by now. It’s just how we do things here in the Kakadiya Complex on Ghod Dod Road.
