We spend most of our days here at G Block in the Millenium Textile Market. It is usually pretty loud out on Ring Road, but once you step inside the shop, it is just stacks and stacks of fabric everywhere. I started this place a while back because I liked seeing how different patterns come together on a saree. Sometimes the lights in the market flicker, and we just have to wait a minute before showing the colors to the customers again. It isn’t fancy like the big malls you see in the city center, but we know where everything is kept. My cousin helps me out with the heavy bundles when the new shipments arrive. Most mornings start with a cup of tea from the guy downstairs while we unfold the latest designs to make sure there are not any snags. We get all sorts of people coming in, some looking for something for a wedding and others just wanting a simple daily wear piece. It gets cramped when there are more than four people inside, but that is just how it goes in this part of the market. Sometimes the dust from the road gets in, so we are constantly wiping down the glass counters. It is a lot of work keeping up with what is popular this month, but we manage somehow. We are not trying to be the biggest shop on the block, just a place where you can find a decent saree without too much fuss.
