Vivaah Sarees

Lalgate is where we are located. It is a very busy part of Surat. Most mornings start early for us, getting the metal shutters up before the sun gets too hot. People know that the Main Road gets crowded fast with scooters and rickshaws. Inside the shop, we have stacks of sarees everywhere. It is not a fancy place, just rows of wooden shelves and some small stools for people to sit on while they look at the fabrics. We spend a lot of time folding things back up because customers like to see every single fold and touch the material. Sometimes the tea man comes by with his kettle and we take a quick break in the back. The traffic outside never really stops, so you just get used to the constant honking and the shouting of the street vendors. We do not have a big team, just a few of us making sure everything is in the right place. Most folks who come in are looking for something specific for a family wedding or just a gift for someone. We show them what we have on the racks. The floor gets dusty because of the road right outside, so there is a lot of cleaning to do every single day. We keep the lights on until late in the evening when the crowd finally starts to thin out. It is just how things go here on Lalgate Main Road. We have seen the shops around us change over the years, but we stay right here doing the same thing.
