About Urmi Embrodary Art Sarees & Matching Centre – Fashion & Trends in Surat
Down in Tankshal Pole, things stay pretty busy most of the time. We are at number 3, right in the Adajan Dn area. It is one of those places where everyone kind of knows each other. Our shop has a lot of embroidery work and we also run the matching centre part of it. This means we have hundreds of different spools of thread and pieces of cloth that we have to match up for customers. It is a lot of looking at tiny differences in color. The embroidery machines take up a good bit of space and they make a steady clicking sound when they are running. We spend a lot of time checking the needlework to see if it is coming out right. The pole is narrow, so you get people walking by all the time, poking their heads in to see what is new. It is not like those big malls; it is much more personal here. Sometimes we sit on the stools and just have a chat while we work on a saree border. The matching centre side of things keeps us on our toes because people bring in all sorts of weird shades of fabric. We try our best to find the right thread or lining for them. It is a small shop but we have managed to fit a lot into it over the years. We have been doing this for a while now and we just like the daily routine of the neighborhood.
