You can find us at D 202 in Palanpur. It’s actually inside a residential building, so it feels more like a home than a school. We use the main living area for the music lessons. There’s a carpet on the floor where everyone sits. It’s not very big, so we can only have a few people in at once. We started this because we wanted to share what we know about music without needing a giant building. Most of our students are kids from the same block or the one next door. You can hear the singing from the hallway if the door is open. We have an old harmonium that’s been in the family for years. It still works great though. Sometimes we have tea together after the lesson is over. It’s very relaxed here. No one is rushing around. If someone is late, we just start whenever they get here. The Palanpur area is growing fast, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. We don’t do any big advertising. People just hear about us from their friends. I spend my mornings cleaning the instruments and making sure the room is tidy. It’s a quiet way to make a living. We don’t have any fancy certificates on the wall, just some old photos of musicians we like. It’s just a simple music spot in an apartment. There’s a bit of a squeak in the floorboard near the door, but we just ignore it.
