Kala Shree Institute Of Classical Dance

Our dance institute is located in Hanumantha Nagar, specifically in the Srigandhakaval area. It’s a local spot that many people in this part of Surat know. The main room is where all the dancing happens, and we’ve got some big mirrors on the walls so students can see their form. It’s not a fancy studio with high-end flooring, just a good, solid surface that has seen a lot of footwork over the years. You can often hear the sound of the tabla or the rhythmic bells from the street outside. We teach classical dance, which takes a lot of discipline and time. We usually have classes in the early mornings and then again in the evenings when the sun isn't so hot. The kids who come here often start very young and stay with us for years. We’ve seen many of them grow up. The office is just a small corner with a file cabinet and a phone that rings occasionally. We don't spend money on glossy brochures or big ads. Most of our students come because their cousins or neighbors learned here. It’s a community thing. During festival seasons, we get very busy preparing for small local performances. The air in the studio usually smells like incense and floor wax. We just keep things simple and focus on the dance, day in and day out, in our little corner of Hanumantha Nagar.
