Suraj Sarees

We are based in Rustampura, specifically at 542-43. It’s a very traditional part of the city. The streets around here are narrow and can be quite a struggle to navigate if you have a big vehicle. But that’s the charm of Rustampura. We’ve been operating Suraj Sarees out of this location for a long time. It’s basically our home. The shop is on the ground level. We keep a wide variety of sarees. Some are simple cotton ones and others are a bit more decorated. It’s a mess of colors inside. We don’t have a proper display window. You just have to come in and see what’s on the racks. We usually have the radio playing in the background. It helps pass the time when it’s quiet. We know most of the people on this street by name. It’s a tight-knit community. We don’t do any fancy promotions. Word of mouth is how most people find us. Sometimes we sit on the wooden benches outside when the weather is nice. We focus on being consistent. We’re not trying to be a big brand. We just want to provide what our customers are looking for. It’s a lot of folding and unfolding all day long. My hands are used to the feel of the fabric now. It’s just what we do. We like the pace of life here. It feels real.
