Our shop is No. 123/24, located inside the Padwati Textile Market on Ring Road. Like most places on Ring Road, it is a bit of a struggle to find parking, so we usually just take a rickshaw or walk from the main drop-off point. The market itself is always humming with activity. We have two units joined together, which gives us a bit more room than some of our neighbors. Even so, it feels small once you fill it with stock. We deal with a lot of textiles every day, so there is usually lint on our clothes and threads on the floor. We do not have a big team, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. The shelves are labeled, but sometimes things get moved around when we are in a hurry to find something. Customers come in and out, asking for different patterns and prices all day. We keep a big water cooler in the corner because it gets really stuffy in the afternoons. The Padwati market has its own rhythm, and we have been part of it for a good while now. We keep our paperwork in a metal cabinet that has seen better days, but it does the job. At the end of the day, we sweep the floor, lock the heavy shutters, and join the crowd heading home. It is just honest work in a busy part of town, nothing more and nothing less.
