Skyline Salon & Academy

Our shop, Skyline Salon & Academy, is over at Laxmi Enclave, Shop No. 138. We are right across from Gajera School in Katargam. It’s a pretty lively spot, especially when the school kids are heading home. We do two things here: we run a regular salon and we also teach people the trade in our academy. It’s not a huge place, so we have to stay organized to fit the students and the customers at the same time. The academy part usually happens in the afternoons. We teach the basics like how to cut straight and how to mix hair colors without making a mess. Most of our students are young people from around Surat who want to learn a skill. On the salon side, we do the usual haircuts and styling. We don’t have any fancy decorations or a big waiting lounge. There are just some plastic chairs for people to sit while they wait their turn. The mirrors are a bit old but they are clean. We use whatever tools we have available. Sometimes it gets a bit loud with everyone talking and the hair dryers going, but that's just how it is. We’ve been in Katargam for a good while now and know most of the shop owners nearby. It’s a busy life, balancing the teaching and the salon work, but we manage to get through the day and keep things moving.
