Oxford Tution Classes

We’ve got two spots where we run Oxford Tution Classes. One is in Kailasdham Society over in Punagam, and the other is in Bapasitaram Society in Sarthana. It keeps us moving between the two locations. We started this because we saw a lot of kids in these neighborhoods needing a bit of extra help with their schoolwork. It’s not a fancy academy with glass walls and expensive rugs. Usually, it’s just a room with some benches, a whiteboard, and a lot of notebooks piled up. It gets pretty loud when the classes change over in the evening. You can hear the chatter of the kids from the street. We try to keep things simple. We aren't here to promise everyone will be a genius overnight or anything like that. We just want them to understand their math or science a bit better than they did yesterday. The societies are good places to be because it’s where the families live. We know the parents and we see the kids growing up year after year. Sometimes the markers run out of ink or the lights flicker when it rains, but we just keep going. It’s a very local, neighborhood kind of thing. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who actually care about teaching. It’s a lot of hard work, but we like it here in Punagam and Sarthana.
