Shyam Leela Saree & Fancy Sarees

We are tucked away at No. 64 inside the New Textile Market. If you know Ring Road, you know how it gets during the peak hours with all the trucks and people moving bales around. Our shop, Shyam Leela Saree & Fancy Sarees, is just a regular spot in that big maze. Most days start around ten when we pull up the shutters. The place is pretty much packed with stacks of sarees from the floor reaching up to the shelves. We deal with all sorts of fancy sarees and the more common ones too. It is usually quite dusty because of all the fabric moving in and out every hour. My desk is usually covered in old receipts and a half-finished cup of tea that got cold while I was talking to a customer. We don't have any of those fancy air conditioners that actually work well, just a couple of old fans that hum all day long. Sometimes the light in the back flickers, but we haven’t gotten around to fixing it yet. People from the nearby stalls stop by to chat about the market prices or just to complain about the heat. By the time evening rolls around, the floor is a mess of plastic wrappers and threads. We just gather it all up and head home to do the same thing again tomorrow morning. It’s just how things go here in the middle of the textile hub.
