Shubhlaxmi Sarees

Our shop, Shubhlaxmi Sarees, is at 128 A B Connaught Road in Katargam. Katargam is a busy area with a lot of people moving around for work. We are right on the road, so we see everything that happens outside. It is a lot of work keeping the shop clean because of all the traffic dust that blows in. We spend our mornings unfolding sarees and then our afternoons folding them back up again. It is a cycle that never ends. We have some tea in the morning and again in the late afternoon. My nephew helps me out when he is not at school. We have all kinds of people coming in. Some are looking for something cheap and others want something for a wedding. We treat everyone the same. We don't have a big staff, just us family members. The shelves are packed tight with boxes. Sometimes it is hard to find a specific color if we haven't put it back in the right spot. We try our best to stay organized but it is tough when things get busy. The street outside is always noisy with horns and people talking. We have a small radio that we play sometimes to drown out the noise of the cars. It is just a normal shop in a normal neighborhood. We work hard, we go home, and we come back tomorrow. That is our life here on Connaught Road.
