Shubham Sarees

Our shop is at 45 Swaminarayan Indu. It is right across from the Swaminarayan Temple near Bombay Market. Being near the temple means there are always people around the area. You can smell the incense and the street food from the vendors nearby. Shubham Sarees is just a small part of this busy area. We open up early and start by dusting everything off. The dust gets everywhere in this part of town because of the traffic. We have piles of sarees in every color you can think of. Sometimes it takes an hour just to show someone three or four pieces. We don't mind the time it takes. It is part of the job. We have some old fans that make a lot of noise, but they keep us cool enough during the summer. Most of our day is spent folding things back up after people look at them. It is a lot of repetitive work. My hands are always dry from handling the cloth all day long. We get our lunch from the place down the street. Everyone knows us around here. We aren't trying to do anything big or fancy, just keep the shop running and help the folks who walk in. The traffic near Bombay Market can be a nightmare in the evenings. We usually wait for it to die down before we head home ourselves. It is a busy life but we are used to it.
