Shree Grihshobha Sarees

I run Shree Grihshobha Sarees at shop 4593 in Block K. We are quite close to the Millennium Textile Market in Inderpura. It’s a very busy spot to be. Every morning, the streets are full of people carrying bundles of cloth on their shoulders or on bicycles. Our shop is small but we’ve managed to fit a lot into it. We have sarees stacked all the way to the ceiling. I have to use a wooden ladder to reach the ones at the top. It can be a bit dangerous if you're not careful. We don't have a computer here; everything is written in big ledger books with red covers. Sometimes the ink smudges when it's humid. We get a lot of local ladies coming in to look at what’s new. They like to take their time, and we let them. There’s no rush here. We have some old benches where they can sit. The lighting isn't the best, so we often take the fabric to the doorway to see the real color in the sunlight. The traffic noise from the main market is always there, like a constant hum. We close up around eight in the evening. By then, the street is finally starting to quiet down. It’s a tiring day, but I’ve been doing it for years and I don't know anything else. It's just home to me now, for better or worse.
