Shivaay Designer

Shivaay Designer is tucked inside Ganpati Silk Mills, right along the main Ring Road. If you’ve ever been down that way, you know how hectic it gets with all the trucks and the people moving bales of fabric around. It’s not exactly a quiet place to work, but we’ve gotten used to the constant hum of the mills. Our space isn't huge, but it's where all the designing happens. We spend a lot of time looking at different patterns and trying to figure out what looks right. Sometimes we sit around a table for hours just talking about one specific color or a line on a sketch. It’s a lot of manual work, honestly. Ring Road is always a mess of traffic, so getting here in the morning can be a bit of a challenge depending on the time. Once you’re inside the mill gates, things feel a bit more organized. We have our stacks of fabric and our drawing tools, and that’s about it. There isn't any corporate hierarchy here; we just work together to get the designs finished. We probably drink way too much chai while we’re at it. The floors are concrete, and the lighting is just standard bulbs, nothing like a showroom. It’s just a practical workshop where we try to make things that people might actually want to wear. We keep it simple and focus on the work right in front of us every day.
