Sareeka Designer

Sareeka Designer is down in the basement of Mahalaxmi Market. It’s part of the larger Textile Market area on the Ring Road. We are located near the Universal Market, which is a big landmark for people who are trying to find our entrance. Being in the basement means it stays a little cooler than the street level, but it can feel a bit enclosed on busy days. We have shop space B-Basement. It’s a very busy environment with people rushing around. Ring Road is always humming with the sound of heavy trucks and motorbikes. We spend most of our time down here organizing the latest designs that come in from the suppliers. It’s not a fancy boutique with carpets and big mirrors everywhere. It’s a working shop in a crowded textile market. We have piles of sarees that need to be sorted, checked, and labeled for the customers. Sometimes the lights flicker when the load is high, but we just keep going. We get a lot of people who are looking for specific things, and we do our best to find them in our stacks. It’s a lot of walking up and down the stairs to get to the main street level. We’ve been here for a while and have seen the market change. It’s a practical life and we don't have much to say about ourselves. We just work.
