Sakhisarees

Sakhisarees is a small business we run out of the Westfield complex on Ghod Dod Road. We are in unit UG 48, which is on the upper ground floor. Ghod Dod Road is a pretty popular area in Surat, so there’s always something going on outside. The complex itself is okay, though the elevators can be a bit temperamental at times. We sell sarees, mostly to local women who know us or people who happen to be walking through the mall. It’s not a huge store, so we have to be smart about how we stack the boxes. Sometimes it feels like the sarees are going to take over the whole room. We have a small mirror in the corner where people can hold the fabric up to see how it looks. The carpet is a bit worn out from all the foot traffic, but we don't mind. It shows people are coming in. We don't do any big advertising or have a corporate office. It’s just us here, taking care of the stock and talking to customers. We keep a diary of what we sell and what we need to order next. The afternoons can be slow, so we usually sit and listen to the muffled sounds of the mall. It’s a decent way to earn a living. We try to be helpful when someone asks for a specific color, but we don't give them a big sales pitch. We just show them what we have on the shelves and let them decide. It is simple.
