The Bombay Market is a place where you can easily get lost if you don't know the shop numbers. We are at K-30/32 in the Umarwada area. Sakhi Saree & Dress Material has been sitting in this corner for quite some time. It is a busy place where the aisles are narrow and everyone is in a hurry. We spend a lot of time unfolding sarees and showing the patterns to anyone who walks in. The light inside the shop is a bit yellow, which makes the colors look different than they do outside in the sun. We have a lot of dress materials piled up in the back section. Sometimes the stacks get a bit messy during the rush hours, and we have to spend the evening straightening everything out. The floor is tiled but it gets dirty fast with so many feet coming through. We know the other shopkeepers around us, so there is always someone to talk to if things are slow. Umarwada is always loud with the sound of rickshaws and people shouting. We keep a water cooler in the corner for the staff and anyone else who is thirsty. It is not a fancy showroom, just a practical shop where we keep things moving. By the time we close the shutters, our backs usually ache a bit, but that is just how it goes when you are working in a market like this.
