Down here at Varachha Road B/47, things get pretty hectic once the school bell rings. We have students coming in and out all afternoon and the stairs are always a bit noisy with all the footsteps. The classrooms are small but we fit everyone in, even if it gets a bit tight on the benches. We spend a lot of time cleaning the whiteboards and looking for markers that actually haven't dried out yet. The traffic on Varachha Road is something else, you can hear the horns all day long even when the windows are shut tight. We’ve got a small stack of books in the corner that keeps growing because people keep leaving things behind. It’s not a quiet place, but that’s just how it is when you’re teaching. Most of the staff has been here for a few years and we all know the neighbors by now. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to open the windows for some air, which lets in all the street noise. It’s a simple setup with just enough light and some fans that squeak if they’re turned up too high. We usually stay late to finish up the paperwork and lock up when the street lights are already on. It’s just a regular tutoring spot where we try to keep things organized despite the chaos of the city outside. By the time we leave at night, the whole building is finally quiet and we can hear the stray dogs barking further down the road.
