S M Patel & Company is situated on the Nanavat Main Road in Rander. This part of town is always busy, and the road can be a bit of a nightmare during the peak hours in the morning and evening. Our building is right there in the middle of all the action. We have been operating from this spot for quite a while, and the walls show it a bit with the old paint. Inside, it’s mostly just desks, piles of files, and whatever supplies we are handling at the time. There is no air conditioning, so we keep the windows open, which means a lot of street noise comes inside. You can hear the rickshaws honking and people shouting all day long. We deal with various things, mostly just paperwork and keeping track of the orders that come through our door. It’s a practical workspace, not something you would see in a fancy magazine. We know the other business owners on Nanavat Main Road, and sometimes we grab a tea together from the stall at the corner when there is a break. The days go by pretty fast when you are busy with the ledger or talking to people who drop in for business. It gets dusty from the traffic outside, so we are always wiping down the tables and the chairs. It’s just a standard business setup in an old, lively part of Rander. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t and just do our work.
