About Raj Mandap Service – Event & Planning in Surat
Over at A K Road Jagdish Avenue Shop No 8, we spend most of our time moving heavy things around. Being in the mandap business means dealing with long bamboo poles, huge rolls of fabric, and stacks of plastic chairs that never seem to end. The shop itself is mostly a place to store all the gear when it isn't out at a function. It can get pretty cramped in here, especially when a big wedding is coming up and we have to check every piece of cloth for stains or tears. I usually have a few guys helping me load the tempo out front, and we have to be careful not to block the traffic on A K Road too much. The shop smells like laundry soap and old wood. Sometimes I sit at the small desk in the back to write down dates in a ledger, but mostly I am on my feet. Jagdish Avenue is a lively place, so there is always someone poking their head in to ask about prices or dates. I try to keep everything organized, but with so many curtains and poles, it is hard. We have seen a lot of families come through here over the years. It is physical work, and my back usually aches by the time I lock up Shop No 8 at night, but seeing a display finally standing up straight makes it feel like a decent day's work.
