Priyal Creation

Priyal Creation is way up on the 20th floor of Raghukul Textile Market. You have to take Lift No. 19 to get to A-2001. It takes a while if the lift is busy, which it usually is. Up there, it’s a bit quieter than the ground floor, but you still hear the humming of the building. We can see out over the city, though we don't look out the window much. Mostly we are looking at the piles of cloth. Being in Raghukul is good because everything is in one place. But the Ring Road traffic to get here is a nightmare every single morning. We usually get in early just to avoid the worst of it. The shop is filled with stacks. We try to keep a path open so people can walk. It’s a lot of lifting. My shoulders usually ache by five o'clock. We keep a small kettle for making tea. It’s the only way to get through the long afternoons. Sometimes the power goes out for a minute and everything stops. Then it comes back and we go back to work. We don’t have a big staff. It’s just us. We know where every single roll is kept, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. It’s our space and we’ve made it work for us over the years. We wouldn't know what to do if we had to move now. It is what it is.
