Our shop, Pavitraa Fashion, is located at Shop No. 27 inside the Shree Kuberji Silk Market. It’s back in the Umarwada area, tucked right behind the New Bombay Market. It’s a bit of a trek to get back here if you’re coming from the main road, but it’s a good spot once you find it. We deal mostly in silk and other fabrics that people are looking for. The shop is small, and we have to keep the stools tucked away when we are moving big rolls of cloth around. I usually handle the sales while my younger brother keeps track of the ledger. We don’t use computers for much, mostly just pen and paper like we always have. The Silk Market is a noisy place with people shouting and carts moving all the time. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use flashlights to show the fabric to customers. It’s not a perfect setup, but it’s ours. We’ve been here in Umarwada for a few years now and have built up a decent group of regulars who don't mind the walk. We don't have any big slogans or anything. We just sell what we have in stock and try to stay organized. It’s a lot of work and long hours, but we prefer being our own bosses in this little corner of the market.
