I’m Pankajkumar R Patel and you can find my shop at 6 Ambheta Mangaldas Shopping Centre. It’s a small unit in a busy shopping area. There are always people walking past the window looking at things or just heading to the other stores. Being at number 6 means I am right in the mix of everything. Mangaldas Shopping Centre has been around for ages and everyone in the neighborhood knows it. The shop itself is a bit cramped because I have a lot of stock piled up in the corners. I try to keep it in order but it’s hard when new things arrive every week. I have a small stool I sit on near the counter. The lighting inside is a bit yellow and one of the fans makes a clicking noise that I’ve grown used to. I’ve known the other shopkeepers in Ambheta for years and we often share a meal or a chat during the slow hours. It is a very local vibe here. People come in not just to buy things but sometimes just to say hello or ask for directions. I don’t use any big advertisements. My name is on the door and that’s enough. The floor is concrete and I sweep it every morning before I open up the shutters. It’s a humble place at unit 6. I’m just here doing my job and staying busy in the shopping centre. It is a long day but it is a good way to stay connected.
