Our place is on the ground floor of the New Bombay Market in Umarwada. We have units A-2012 and 13. It is a very busy market, so there is always a lot of shouting and heavy lifting going on in the corridors. Being on the ground floor helps because we don’t have to lug heavy fabric rolls up any stairs. The lighting in the market isn't always the best, so we have our own tube lights inside to see what we are doing. It can get quite cramped when we have a lot of customers and stock at the same time. We usually have rolls of cloth piled up in the corners. The guys working here have been with us for a bit, so we all know how the routine goes. We start early and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. There is no air conditioning, just a few ceiling fans that we keep running all day to deal with the heat. It’s a messy job sometimes with threads and scraps all over the floor, but we try to clean up before heading home. People come to us from all over the city because this market is a well-known spot. We don't do much fancy stuff here, just the work that needs to be finished. It is a practical workspace, not a showroom. We just focus on getting the orders out on time every day and keeping the piles of fabric from falling over.
