Navjivan Sarees

We’ve been at Shop 3015 on the third floor of the JJ Textile Market for a good while now. It gets quite busy here with all the other shops around, especially since it's an air-conditioned market which helps in the heat. Mostly it’s just us surrounded by piles of sarees every day. We spend a lot of time sorting through different fabrics and checking the colors when new batches arrive. Sometimes the lift is slow so people walk up, but they find us eventually. It is just a regular place where we keep things moving. We deal with various types of sarees, from the heavy ones for weddings to simple ones for home. My day usually starts with opening the shutters and dusting the counters. There is always tea being passed around in the corridor. We know most of the other shopkeepers on this floor by name. Dealing with customers takes up most of the afternoon. We try to keep a decent range so people have options when they visit. It’s not a fancy setup, just a functional space with racks and lights. We’ve seen the market change over the years, but the way we handle the sarees stays pretty much the same. It's a lot of folding and unfolding, really. Sometimes it gets crowded in the small space, but we make it work. Most people know where the JJ market is, so finding us isn't too hard once you get inside.
