Monalisa Secondary School

Monalisa Secondary School sits at 1 Pratik Bunglow on the Vesu Canal Road. Being in Vesu, the area has changed a lot lately, but we’ve stayed pretty much the same. We deal with older students here, so the vibe is a bit more serious than a primary school. The students are mostly teenagers, so there is plenty of energy in the hallways. Our building used to be a regular house, or at least it feels like one, which gives it a bit of a different layout than those big purpose-built schools. We have classrooms squeezed in where they fit. It’s a bit cramped when everyone is moving between classes, but we make it work. The teachers here focus on getting through the syllabus and preparing for the exams that come at the end of the year. We don't have a big sports field, so the kids usually just hang out by the canal or in the small space out front during their breaks. It's a bit dusty because of the road work nearby, but that’s just Surat for you. We don't put on a big show for visitors; what you see is what you get. Just a bunch of teachers trying to help kids get through their secondary years without too much trouble. We spend a lot of time grading papers and talking to parents about grades and behavior. It’s a lot of work, but we’ve been doing it for years now and know how things go.
