Modern School

Modern School is tucked away within the T T V Sarvajanik High School premises in the Nanpura area of Surat. Nanpura is an older part of the city, so the streets are narrow and usually packed with people and scooters. Finding a place to park is always a bit of a nightmare, but we’ve all gotten used to it over the years. The school building feels like it has a lot of history. The ceilings are high and the hallways are long and cool, which is great during those hot Surat afternoons. We share the space, so there is always a lot of movement and different groups of students passing each other. It’s a lively place, even if it feels a bit old-fashioned. We don’t have all the latest gadgets or shiny new furniture. Most of our stuff is well-worn but still does the job just fine. The teachers here have been working in this neighborhood for a long time and they know most of the families around Nanpura. We don't spend money on big advertisements or anything like that. People just know we are here. Sometimes the bells from the nearby temples or the noise from the market drift into the classrooms, but we just keep teaching through it. It’s a very local, very real kind of place where we just focus on the daily lessons and getting the students ready for whatever comes next in their lives.
