It’s pretty crowded here at Lajvanti Sarees, especially since we are located right inside Abhinadan Market on Ring Road. Most days start with us moving around stacks of boxes that come in from the weavers. My father started this in a much smaller space, but now we have units 1012 and 1013 joined together. The lights are bright because you have to see the colors properly, or people get upset when they get home. It’s a lot of folding and unfolding all day. We spend most of our time just showing different fabrics to folks who walk in. The tea guy comes around at eleven and four, which is usually the only time we sit down and take a break. Ring Road is always noisy with trucks and rickshaws, but you get used to it after a few years. Sometimes the fans don't work right, and it gets hot, but the work keeps moving anyway. We don't have a fancy showroom with glass windows everywhere. It's just a regular shop where things get done. We have a lot of regular people who come to see us whenever there is a wedding in their family. It’s mostly just us trying to keep the shelves organized, which is harder than it looks with all these heavy silks and cottons. If you’re looking for us, we’re just there in the middle of the market. It’s not hard to find if you know the building and the floor.
