Ketan Provisional Stores

Our store is located in Shaswat Nagar, over in the Piplod area. It is a residential part of town, so we mostly serve the families living in the nearby apartments and houses. Being at units 51 and 52 gives us a bit more room than some of the other smaller shops around here. We stock a bit of everything, from laundry soap and cleaning supplies to biscuits and cold drinks. It is very handy for people who do not want to drive all the way to the big market for one or two items. They can just walk over from their homes and get what they need. We still keep a small notebook for some of our long-time regulars who like to pay for their things at the end of the month. It is an old way of doing things, but it works well for us and them. The weather gets really humid in this part of Surat, so we have to be very careful about how we store the food items. We use big plastic bins for a lot of the dry goods to keep them fresh. Sometimes the kids come in after school to buy candy or a cold soda. It is always a bit noisy and energetic then. We have got a few old chairs outside where some of the older men sit and talk in the evenings. We do not mind. It makes the whole place feel more like a home. We try to stay open late enough for the office workers.
