K B Marakana

Our office for K B Marakana is tucked away on the 3rd floor of the City Mall at 25 Champavadi. Being in a mall is a bit different than being on a street corner. You have the air conditioning, which is a relief in the summer, but you also have to deal with the crowds on the weekends. We usually take the service stairs if the elevator is taking too long, which happens more often than you would think. The space itself is compact. We have a few desks squeezed in and a shelf full of various binders and records. It’s not the quietest place because you can hear the faint music from the stores downstairs and the chatter of shoppers. We have been here for a while and the security guards know us by name now. It’s a bit of a walk from the parking area to the third floor, but we don’t mind the exercise. Most of our work involves sitting at the computer or talking to people who drop by. We don’t have a fancy waiting room, just a couple of plastic chairs by the desk. It’s a straightforward setup. We usually eat lunch at one of the small stalls nearby. It's a busy life in Champavadi, and we are just one small part of the hustle.
