Jay Diamond Processors

We are right in the heart of the action at Mahidharpura, on Street Number 4. If you know anything about this area, you know it’s where all the diamond work happens. Jay Diamond Processors is a small setup, just like many others on this street. We have these long benches where the light has to be just right so we can see what we are doing. It’s a lot of sitting and looking through magnifying glasses for hours on end. The street outside is always crowded with people talking and trading, but inside our unit, it’s usually quite focused and quiet. We don’t have any big signs or fancy decorations. It’s just the white walls and the workstations. The work is very repetitive and takes a lot of concentration. Sometimes your eyes get tired by the afternoon, so we take a walk down the street to clear our heads. We aren't a big corporation with departments; we are just a group of people who know how to process stones. Most of our tools are simple but we’ve used them for years. There’s a lot of trust involved in this business, so we mostly work with people we’ve known for a long time. It’s not a glamorous job like people might think. It’s mostly about precision and staying patient with the stones. We finish up when the light gets bad and then we close up for the day. Mahidharpura is a unique place.
