If you head over to Udhana Darwaja in Surat, you’ll find us in the Dhamanwala Complex. We are on the first floor, specifically Shop-A. Gupta Ethnic Private Limited has been in this spot for a while now. It’s a busy complex with a lot of people coming and going. Our shop isn't huge, but we crammed a lot into it. Being on the first floor is better than the ground floor because it’s slightly less noisy, though you still hear the traffic from the road. We focus on ethnic wear, which is what Surat is famous for. Most days involve opening bales of cloth and checking the stitching on various pieces. We don't have a lot of fancy lights or a big marketing budget. We just open up in the morning and stay until the work is done. Usually, it’s just us and a couple of helpers moving stock around. The air conditioning works most of the time, which is lucky in Gujarat. We know our neighbors in the complex, and we all just try to get through the day. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s our business and we take care of it. People know where to find us if they need something specific. We don't make big promises, we just show people what we have in stock and hope they like the quality of the fabric we use.
