Our shop, Aliya Sarees, is located at Gidc Plot No-2205/b. If you know the GIDC area, you know it’s mostly factories and industrial plots. It’s not the kind of place you come for a fancy shopping experience. We are here because it gives us the space we need to handle the sarees and the bulk work. The plot is a decent size, though we’ve filled most of it with racks and folding tables. It’s usually pretty hot in the afternoons, so we keep the big doors open for a breeze. We spend a lot of time checking the dyes and the patterns on the fabric. It’s repetitive work, but we find a rhythm in it. Most of the staff have been working with sarees for years, so they know what they are looking at. We aren't big on marketing or trying to look bigger than we are. We just show up, do the work, and go home. There is always a layer of fabric lint on everything, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just part of the trade. The area is quiet in the evenings once the other units shut down. We often stay a bit later to finish up the last few bundles. It’s a solid place to work, even if it’s a bit out of the way for most people. We just focus on the sarees and keep things simple. Sometimes the trucks block the entrance, but we manage.
