Deepmala Silk Palace

Deepmala Silk Palace is located right at 22 Gangotri Nagar. We are quite close to the Police Colony Circle on Bamroli Road. It’s a decent spot, easy enough for people to find once they get to the circle. We’ve been here for a while, selling silks and fabrics to anyone who walks in. The shop is filled with rolls of cloth and different colors. It smells a bit like old fabric and tea most of the time. My family helps out quite a bit here. We aren't a big chain store or anything like that. It's just a local shop where we know many of our customers by name. Sometimes the traffic on Bamroli Road gets really backed up, making it hard to park. But people still make their way to us. We keep the lights on late most evenings. There is always cleaning to do because of the dust from the road. We don't spend money on fancy displays. We just have the fabrics sitting on the shelves for people to look at and touch. We spend our days measuring and cutting and talking to neighbors. It’s a simple life. We’ve seen the kids in Gangotri Nagar grow up over the years. Some of them even come in now to buy things for their own homes. It makes you feel old but it's nice to be part of the community. We just keep the door open.
