Chintamani Sarees

Chintamani Sarees is right in the middle of all that noise and color. We have stacks of sarees reaching up to the ceiling. It’s a small shop, but we make use of every inch. We don't have a fancy showroom. It’s more about the fabric and the work. Surat is famous for this kind of thing, and we’ve been part of the market for a long time. Every day is a lot of folding and unfolding. People come from all over to shop in Umarwada. We sit on the floor mostly, showing the designs to whoever stops by. The lights are bright so people can see the colors properly. It’s hot in the summer, but the market always has a buzz that keeps us going. We don't do big advertisements. Word of mouth usually brings people to o-38. We know the other shopkeepers around us. We share tea and talk about the day's sales. It’s a simple life, focused on the sarees. We try to keep a good variety so there is something for everyone who walks through the door. If it gets too crowded, we just ask people to wait a second. It's part of the experience of shopping here.
