We are based out of the Gujarat Hira Bourse in Ichchhapore. It’s a massive area dedicated to the diamond trade, and our specific spot is at unit I-19. Surat is famous for this kind of work, so it made sense for Carat Diamond Jewellery Llp to be right in the middle of all that activity. The commute out to the Bourse can be a bit long depending on where you are living in the city, and the security checks at the gate take some time too. We spend our days working with different stones and jewelry pieces. It’s not a glamorous setup by any means, just a practical workspace with the right lamps and tools we need. There are hundreds of other businesses nearby doing almost the same thing, so it feels like a big community of workers. We mostly focus on the technical side of the jewelry here. The paperwork and keeping records takes up a lot of our time as well. Sometimes we grab tea from the small stall nearby when we really need a break from the magnifying glasses. The building is quite large and can be confusing, so it took us a minute to get settled in when we first moved to the Chorasi area. We don't have a big neon sign outside. People who need us usually know exactly where I-19 is located. It’s a busy place with a lot of people moving around, especially in the early mornings. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. It’s a decent place to work, even if the Surat weather gets really hot.
