Bansal Sarees

Our shop, Bansal Sarees, is down on the lower ground floor of Abhinandan Market. We are at units 260-61, which gives us a bit more space than some of the others around here. Being on the lower ground means it stays a bit cooler during the summer, but we don't get much natural light. We rely on the big tube lights to show off the colors of the sarees. Ring Road is always jammed with traffic, so there is a constant hum of engines above us. We spend our mornings checking the new stock that comes in from the mills. There are bags and boxes everywhere until we get them sorted onto the shelves. We have a lot of different styles, from simple daily wear to the heavier stuff people want for ceremonies. It’s a lot of walking back and forth in the shop, and my legs are usually tired by the end of the day. The market can be like a maze, but once you find the stairs down to our section, we are right there. We don't do much in the way of decoration; we just let the sarees speak for themselves. It’s a working market, so things are always moving, and we are just trying to keep up with the pace of Ring Road. It’s a solid place to work, and we know our neighbors in the market well. Sometimes we stay late to finish inventory when it's quiet.
